The complexity and long duration of research aimed to fundamental innovations in social science, certainly decreases their effectiveness. If there is no general roadmap for these types of research, confusion increases which leads to waste of time and resources. So, the path of the research has to be drawn beforehand, where roadmapping method of futures studies can be used. The research roadmap in Islamic social sciences can be considered in five layers: supporting activities, intellectual foundations of a scientific field, details of method, frame of Islamic thoughts and the research output. This pattern was implemented in a PhD research entitled “Codification of Cognitive-Normative Frame for Future-thinking using Teachings and Concepts of Holy Quran”, and has achieved the desired result. In the early stage of mentioned research, “belief in god’s will in shaping future” was recognized as one of the most important differences between Islamic thoughts and common intellectual basis of futures studies, and this finding has been set as starting point of a conceptual model for “inferring Qur’anic frame of thoughts”. This conceptual model consisted of three stages of inferring cognitive aspect, inferring normative aspect and case study of the findings in the structure of a Surah.
